A Tropical Concept Exotic Bird Rescue
A Tropical Concept Exotic Bird Rescue (ATCEBR), founded in 2020, is a 501(c)(3) rescue organization dedicated to matching companion parrots with safe, loving, and permanent human homes. Unlike a sanctuary, which provides lifelong care, ATCEBR focuses on rehabilitation and adoption — helping parrots heal emotionally and behaviorally so they can thrive in a forever family.
ATCEBR is a one-woman operation run by lifelong rescuer Kim Vallen. As a small rescue with only a few birds at a time, Kim is able to spend meaningful, one-on-one time with each parrot every day, working patiently and lovingly to rebuild trust and resolve fear or aggression. The birds have access to a large outdoor aviary, and many experience the joy of free flight for the first time in their lives.
Prospective adopters are rigorously vetted, including in-home visits to ensure the environment is safe and that the family fully understands the needs, challenges, and lifelong commitment of caring for a companion parrot. Kim maintains contact with each adopter, offering guidance and support long after the bird has settled in.
ATCEBR’s adoption contract requires that any bird who cannot remain in its new home must be returned to the rescue. This safeguard ensures that no bird is ever placed in an inappropriate or unsafe situation again.
Although small, ATCEBR makes a profound difference — one bird at a time. To learn more, visit https://atcexoticbirdrescue.org
