Safety

Safety is always our top priority. Fun and enrichment matter — but no toy is worthwhile unless it’s safe for the birds we love.

When we began producing Sockatoos in 2015, we spent countless hours researching and sourcing every single component with safety in mind:

• Socks are sourced directly from a textile mill in Alabama — undyed, untreated, and free from chemicals.
• Plastic hangers for the Minis and Classics are infant teething toys made for human babies. If they’re safe enough for human babies, they’re safe enough for our feathered babies.
• Ultras are equipped with safe, non-toxic stainless steel rings.
• Fabric strips are folded inward so there are no raw edges and no long threads that could catch a toe or beak.
• Pasta, nuts, star anise, and dried chilies are all human-grade ingredients.

We’ve produced over 3,000 Sockatoos over the years with no reported safety issues. However, as with all bird toys, owners should monitor them regularly and replace them if they become overly frayed or if holes become too large to be safe.

Sockatoos are enrichment toys designed to encourage natural foraging, chewing and shredding behaviors.  As with all bird toys, owners are responsible for supervising their parrots during use and removing any toy that becomes worn or unsafe.

Sockatoo does not provide veterinary or medical advice.  For any questions about your bird’s health, please consult a qualified avian veterinarian.
